MapleStory - Mark Of Honour and some stuff about DFO

So the Mark of Honour patch was released in Global MapleStory 2 days ago and it's the patch where we get one of the 2 Japanese exclusive classes: Kanna. I still gotta play it but it looks really cool just by looking at it :D Not only does this patch include Kanna, but it also includes new level 150 Root Abyss equips. Since we got Kanna, there's a good chance that the nezt patch will include the 2nd Japanese exclusive class: Hayato.

Ever since I saw these 2 classes released in Japan MapleStory, I always wanted to play them, but I never thought I would be able to because they're supposed to be Japanese Exclusive. Now I have a chance to play them ^^

I'm gonna play Kanna tomorrow after posting about my DN Swordmaster and I'll give my thoughts on it. Until then I'll just skim over the update notes.

Some quick info on Kanna: She's a mage and used INT, and she also uses a new weapon called Fans. The Fans are classified as 2Handed weapons so have fun scrolling them XD You can also make either a male or female Kanna which is nice and she doesn't run on MP. The patch notes also has her backstory which is cool since it's based on Japanese history.

Here it is:
June 21, 1582
Honnou-ji in Kyoto

Japan
After years of turmoil, Oda Nobunaga finally seized control of Japan, but his desire for power only grew. He sought immortality, and the temple of Honnou-ji would bring it to him. He prepared an ancient ritual of reincarnation that would see him reborn as The Sixth Sky Demon King, but word of the ritual got out, and the feudal lords stormed Honnou-ji to stop Nobunaga while it was still possible. In the end, a young onmyouji named Kanna disrupted the ritual, and the would-be dark lord’s plans crumbled around him.

But victory came at a cost. Just as the ritual was disrupted, a great pillar of light lurched forth from the temple and transported everyone to a strange world. Now, Kanna must conquer this strange place and regain lost strength and allies in order to stop the dark ambitions of Nobunaga's followers.

You can also see all of Kanna's skills but I'll go over those when I start playing her. The level 150 equips are posted as well and their set bonuses. The set consists of only 4 items so it will be relatively easy to get the full bonus (assuming you can kill the bosses of course). The sets consist of a hat, body armor, bottom, and weapon. This means bowmen and mages can finally get a top and bottom, allowing them to get more potential bonuses :D There's no pictures of the sets but I'll post them when I find them ^^

There's nothing else to special other than log-in and level up events. But there's one thing to note: Kanna is a limited time class. You can only create her until April 2. Evan and Aran are also up for creation until the same day.
If you want more in depth info on the patch you can check out the link I posted :)

Now before I go I want to point out a rather annoying thing that Nexon has been doing. Some of you might of heard of Nexon's other game called Dungeon Fighter Online. Now if you have been checking out the Dungeon Fighter site you may have noticed something odd: There hasn't been any new patches, events, and the last post was on the 13th of DECEMBER. There has been no word of any updates. This has given people the idea that DFO is going to be shut down soon. But if you lurk on the forums (like me) you will find out that a Nexon employee (Sageon) is posting. He has been saying that the reason Nexon hasn't been updating DFO is because they never received any updates or update schedules from the DFO developers, Neople. So the reason DFO is being ignored isn't because of Nexon themselves, it's because of Neople (although I'm pretty sure Neople is a subsidiary of Nexon). So unless Nexon explicitly says "DFO is being shut down", then there's no chance of it being closed. That is of course, unless Neople decides they want to stop developing DFO. If that does happen, then DFO will either be handed to another developer, or Nexon will host it as it is for a month or 2 before shutting it down. I don't think DFO is ending anytime soon since there's still 2 Thief subclasses that have to be released. So until that happens, don't expect DFO to go anywhere.

That's enough of me talking for now. To end of this post, here's a picture of The Black Swordsman of SAO, Kirito <3

Dragon Duel Tournament + other stuff

Hello again ^^

So today I went on the Dragon Nest forums and found out something really cool: Nexon is hosting a PVP tournament for North American Dragon Nest. Although there were tournaments before this, this is the very first tournament that is officially hosted by Nexon.

Original post here: http://dragonnest.nexon.net/news/news/00Fmn/dragon-duel-tournament?nxid=62

I'm just gonna go over the key points of the tournament before giving my thoughts on it. The tournament is going to take place sometime in March and only characters level 32 or higher can participate. 64 players from the Argenta, Gerrant, Velskud, and Elena world merge will participate as well as 32 players from the Leviatha server. The sign-up thread will open in the forums on Friday this week.

The prizes for the tournament are some sexy wings :D

1st Place winners - Gold Gackt Wings

2nd Place winners - Green Gackt Wings

Some things to know about the tournament:

  • Nexon DOES NOT enforce the PvP blacklist, so we can assume all skills are fair game. Thus, if you are going to participate, expect to run into a lot of Parry-Stancing SMs, Blocking Pallies, and possibly a bunch of turret spamming Tinks.
  • The post does not specify whether or not the matches will be equalized or not. If they're not, then good luck :)
  • Still unsure on the layout of the matches. Although there's a very good chance of it being a 1v1 tourney, there's still a chance of it being something different.
  • Since the post implies numerous 1st place and 2nd place winners, I'm guessing that the Argenta - Elena - Velskud - Gerrant server merge will be one tournament and the Leviatha server will have its own tournament. So if you think you'll get smashed in the merged - server tourney, you can go for the Leviatha one ^^
  • Before you ask, no, I will not be participating. Not because I'll get completely destroyed, but because I don't have my level 50 Gladiator >.<
So enough about Dragon Nest for now. Now let's talk about the rest of my week :D
So tomorrow I got 3 tests to write: Biology, Computer Science, and Math. The only test I'm really worried about is Biology only because of how much I hate memorizing -.- The computer Science test won't be too much of a problem because I already printed out all of my codes. Math is gonna be a little tricky. The thing is, I'm good a math, it's just that I make stupid mistakes. A lot. I'll still do good though :)

After school I'm gonna go to Anime club for 2 hours and then go to the Badminton tryouts. I'm like a Badminton Bruce Lee. Yeah. I'm that good (not really  >//<)

Jokes aside, I'm really looking forward to the tryouts only because I haven't played in awhile and I really enjoy playing badminton.

I'll be sure to blog about my Dragon Nest Swordmaster this week and to end off this post, I shall leave you with a picture of Miss Sakuya Izayoi.

Dragon Nest - My Gearmaster :D

I know I said I was gonna blog about China Dragon Nest, but there's an event in the North American one so I started playing it again >.< So the next three posts will be about Dragon Nest. I'll blog about my Gear Master, my Swordmaster (going to be a Gladiator), and my Kali (Which is also when I blog about CDN).

So without further delay, here's my level 50 Gear Master, Azunyaann ^^

A little background info on this character. This was my very first tinkerer (made it right when they were released), my very first level 50, and is currently my main (I was maining a Swordmaster before tinks came out). This is also the first character that I geared up completely, although the release of the Green Dragon Nest means I have to get even more equipment -.-

I'll start off by posting my skill build: Direct Link

So this is a pretty standard build for a GM; no fancy gimmicks and nothing stupid. Everything is pretty much self-explanatory. Quick-Shot requires too many points to be useful so I left it at one. I got Napalm to 4 so I could reach the 45 point minimum. I maxed out Starburst because stuns are awesome, although when I get another free skill reset I'll put those points into Napalm for more damage. Maxed Tumble and Aerial Evade for obvious reasons, although if you only PVE and never PVP you can take some points out of Aerial Evade. Max Slip-And-Slide for some useful speed boosts. Maxed out the Alfredo skills because they're awesome. And finally I maxed out the Health and Mana boosts because there's no where else to put the extra points. I also got the Yum-a-Tron because it's free ^^

I don't really have to explain my Engineer skill tree because it's all pretty strightforward (Superball for damage, Make-It-Rain for damage, Towers for damage, everything for DAMAGE!). Chemical Warfare is left at one because it's damage is meh but it's debuff is awesome. I don't dual-ulti because Bullet Barrage is soooooo bad (Which is funny because it was the best ultimate before T4). I don't need any of the turrets except for the frost one because of Chainsaw Tower. Got some points into the duck tree for Quackum Crash EX . Lastly, I got Alfredo Smash to 6 so Alfredo does more DAMAGE!

The Gear Master skill tree needs no explanation.

The only thing I plan on changing in this build is maxing Napalm instead of Starburst to maximize DPS. I don't plan on making any drastic changes to this build unless there's another skill revamp ^^

Next up is my gear + stats.
SOMNIUM REPRESENT! So yeah here's my basic info, my Ancient Totem set bonuses and my Corrupted Weapons ^^ Also rocking the 195 attack bonus from the 2-piece corrupted set :D
So go ahead and criticize my stats >//< Still gotta respark my cannon and I'll respark my powerglove for Phys Dmg, Agility, and Crit once I get some more money. Also still gotta get more jellies to enhance my weapons to +9 :P

Hope you can read that >.< Enhanced all of my armor to +6 and crafted the Wind II suffix for more agility :D  I got lucky and 4/5 of these got Agility on their first spark. The Body armor took 3 resets before it got me agility (it got intellect 3 times in a row -.-). Once I finish enhancing my weapons I'll enhance these things.

These are weak. I know that. But I plan on getting better accessories once I gather enough passes for Hell Mode. If I ever decide to stack FD (AKA if I ever have the patience to gather enough ladder points), I'll get one of the Nest accessory sets. Heck I might even get them now if their prices drop XD

So as you can see, My equipment is pretty standard. I run 2 Corrupted / 4 Totem to maximize my Phys Dmg gains. Getting Phys Dmg sparks for even more damage. Agility sparks for MORE damage and crit. Wind II suffix on my armor for more crit and damage. Wind II on my cannon for crit, damage, and to lower crit resist on my targets. Iron Wall II on my powerglove for more damage and to lower the defense of my enemies (which let's me deal even MORE damage). I won't spark my accessories until I get the level 50 ones.

To end off this post, here's a video of me soloing the Manticore Nest (Hell).

Sorry for low quality >.< For some reason Blogger decides to downgrade my video

This far from a perfect run but I managed to get a Gravity Ball Crest from it :D :D :D :D :D
Once I get geared up (and more confident >.>), I'll make a video of me soloing Titan Nest >:D

That's all for this post. My next one will be on my Gladiator-in-the-making ^^

Devil Survivor Review

So I just finished playing Devil Survivor (DS) last week and now I'm gonna give my thoughts on it :D
Keep in mind that I only played through 1 route (Gin's route because he's the coolest), so I won't go in too much detail in terms of story line. Also, I played Devil Survivor 2 before playing this one so I'll be comparing the 2 throughout the review.

Devil Survivor is a strategy-rpg for the Nintendo DS and is a spinoff of the Shin Megami Tensei series for the Nintendo DS. The game combines strategic gameplay with tradition turn based combat. The gameplay is unique and the story is very good (probably better than the second one).

The story starts off with the protagonist (I'll call him Hero), and his 2 best friends, Atsuro and Yuzu, meeting up to see Hero's cousin Naoya. Naoya ends up being a no-show and instead gives Atsuro 3 devices called COMPs (Which happen to look like DSs). The COMPs turn out to be locked so Atsuro decides to unlock them using his super-awesome computer skills. He was only able to enable the messaging system and finds out that the 3 COMPs all have the same message which displays events that are supposed to happen throughout the day, all of them associated with someone dying. The 3 teens disbelieve what the email says and Atsuro goes off to try to enable the rest of the COMPs functions. He later meets up with the Heo and Yuzu later on and tells them that he managed to unlock the rest of the COMPs functions. He gives out the other 2 COMPs and they all start them up at the same time, but what happens next is not what they expect. Demons come out of the COMPs and begin attack the teens. Although they expected to be powerless, they managed to defeat the demons. When they were defeated, the demons said they are now under their control. It turns out that the COMPs are capable of summoning and storing demons. The teens are shocked and decide to try and go home only to find out that all of Tokyo is under a lockdown. The government says it because of a serious gas leak in the subway system but the teens don't believe it. They soon find out that there are demons running around the city and the only way for them to survive is to kill them with their demons. Now Hero, Atsuro, and Yuzu, are desperately trying to survive the demon invasion while finding out a way to escape the mysterious lockdown.

I really like the story of this game because it gives off a feeling of desperation while the second game's story gives off a feeling of ambition. This game revolves around surviving the lockdown while the second game's story revolves more around on saving the world (kind of generic but the game pulls it off well). Although I like both stories, I prefer this story just a bit more only because it has a darker feel to it :P

A thing to note about this game's story (and the 2nd game's story), is that there are multiple endings. The ending you decide to choose determines how you will end the lockdown. The endings you will be able to choose are based on the decisions you make and the characters you decide to talk to. There are about 5(?) endings so expect to run through the game a few times if you want to experience the entire story ;) Unlike the 2nd game, there is no True Ending, so don't assume one ending is more correct than another.

The characters in this game are all interesting and loveable. The one thing that bugs me though is that there seems to be less character development in this game than the second one, probably due to the fact that the second game had a Fate System. Despite this, all of the characters are unique and there is no "twin personalities", well, except for the NPCs. One of the cool things about the protagonist is that he is essentially a blank slate. In other words, you have full control over his stats, and the decisions he makes, which in turn affects what kind of personality he has. Although his personality has no real impact on gameplay (except for the fact that it determines what ending you get), it affects the story quite a bit, giving you more control on how the story goes.

Now for the most important part of a game, gameplay. The game is split into 2 parts: exploration and combat (and combat is split into 2 more parts XD). Exploration is where you are able to fuse demons, manage your teams, buy more demons, and pick different scenes. While exploring, you need to keep in mind that scenes and battles all take up 30 minutes of in game time, and that certain scenes can only be viewed before or after certain times. So you'll pick which scene you want to view carefully and prioritize depending on the ending you want. Exploring is pretty straight forward, you scroll through the list of areas (all of which are actual places in Tokyo) and watch the scenes you want. There are also scenes that have battle associated with them, which is what I'll talk about next.

Before the actual battle starts, you are able to do some last minute preparations. You can edit your team, their skills, position them on the map, and also set up Skill Cracks. You are allowed to have only 4 characters participate in a battle. Each character is assigned to a "team" which has 2 other demons. So each character is essentially in control of a team of 2 demons. A Skill Crack  is when you choose a specific skill that an enemy has and associate it with one of your teams. When a team defeats that enemy, you "Crack" the skill and can assign it to your characters. This serves as the only way to attain new skills.

As I said before, combat is split into 2 parts. The first part is the strategy portion. This is where you tell your teams where to go and who to attack. This is similar to Fire Emblem in the sense that you tell each team to attack specific enemies. When you order an attack, you enter the battle portion of combat. This portion plays like the classic Final Fantasy games. You tell your team which skills to use and who to attack and the faster characters move first. The battle ends when a team's leader dies or when all characters attack. This game also features an extra turn system which is supposedly similar to SMT: Nocturne's Press Turn System. What this is is whenever you score a critical hit or exploit an enemies weakness, you have a chance to gain an extra turn. Normally, you can only attack once per turn, but if you get an extra turn, you can attack once more, however you can only use your extra turn after everyone else has made their move. This adds an incentive to exploit weaknesses whenever you can.

The gameplay is really unique because is combines 2 different kinds of battle systems and mixes them together to feel like a completely different genre. There isn't really much to compare to the second game because they both play the same. The only difference is that Devil Survivor 2 features a Joint-Skill Crack system which makes it easier to get skills. Thus, I shall choose DeSu 2's battle system over the first one :P.

Lastly is the music. I'll try to make this part short. The music in the game has a heavier feel than the second game and a lot of the tracks are influenced by metal, which is good because it makes battles feel more epic :D Although there are a lot of good songs, there are some songs that I don't like very much (Aggressive Tune). The OST as a whole is very well done, but I prefer DeSu 2's OST more.

Story - 10/10 (Love it)
Gameplay - 9/10 (Amazing with very few complaints)
Music - 8/10 (Love the whole "metal" vibe, but some of the track I just don' like)
Replay-ability - 9/10 (5 endings. The New Game+ feature felt pretty rushed though)

Overall - 9/10

I loved this game a lot and it's definitely worth playing if you have a DS. There's also a 3DS remake of the game called Devil Survivor Overclocked which added some of the features that were in the second game, and also adds extra content.
In order from favourite to least favourite:
Overclocked > Devil Survivor 2 > Devil Survivor

Sorry for the lengthy post, but I'll make it up to you with a picture of the protagonist of Devil Survivor 1 :D

Gonna blog about my adventures through China Dragon Nest soon ^-^

Zilean's got SWAG

-Starts up League
-Pick Zilean Mid
-Proceeds to pwn

*This is not me in the video, I jut thought it was appropriate for what I was doing at the time.

So nothing really important happened the past few days. I did a biology quiz, a math quiz, a computer test and played more games :D I made some progress in Devil Survivor so I may be posting some more stuff in regards to that. I also played some League today. Won a game as Zilean (like a baws), and lost 2 games as dunkmaster Yi >.<

Also, my school's anime club had a meeting today for the first time in a month ^-^ We did some random (and funny) activities but the main reason I went to the meeting was to find out about our sweaters. No news on when we'll actually GET our sweaters, but we do know that we are getting them.

Aside from that, nothing else exciting happened >.> I spent my Valentines day on the computer, playing games, and watching anime >//< Hopefully something exciting comes up soon.

I shall end this post with a picture of Azunyaann giving you  me a gift ^-^

Spring 2013 Anime and Devil Survivor

3rd post yay ^-^

Well I recently found the Spring 2013 Anime list, which is a list of animes that are to be aired from March to May.

Pic Here http://i3.minus.com/ibz8l4ubqai5a.jpg

I'm reeeeeeeeaaaaaally looking forward to the Devil Survivor 2 anime ever since I found out about it a month ago :D.  Although I find it kind of odd that there isn't an anime of the first game =/

Anyways, Devil Survivor 2 is about 3 high school students: Daichi Shijima, Io Nitta, and the protagonist (named Hibiki Kuze in the anime but you decide on his name in the game) who discover a site called Nicaea, which supposedly sends videos of a friend's death before it happens. Daichi introduces the site to Hibiki  and although they think it's a joke, they register for it anyways. Later on in the day, they meet up with Io at the nearby subway station. It is then that all 3 of them receive an email with contains a video of a train crashing into a subway platform, killing everyone who was there. Almost immediately after viewing the video, a train crashes right into the platform that they are standing on. However, right before the train crashes into the 3 students, 3 demons appear and push the train out of the way, saying only Daichi, Io, and Hibiki. It is revealed that the demons were summoned from their phones and that a mysterious earthquake has struck Japan. Now the 3 students, along with 10 other people whom they meet soon after, become Devil Summoners and must use their demons in order to survive the mysterious calamity that has struck Japan.

The anime is said to begin airing in April but there still isn't an exact date, yet.

Aside from Devil Survivor, the only other anime that I'm interested in is To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S, and Hayate No Gotoku if I could get around to finishing the season before >.>

Enough about anime for now. Now I'm gonna talk about some more Devil Survivor :D :D

So recently I started playing the first Devil Survivor and I'm a little past half way through the game (Day 5 :D). Although there are a few things I dislike (which were fixed in the second game :P) I must say that this game is amazing. I enjoy this story a bit more than the second one and the gameplay itself is pretty good. But before I get through what I like about it, lemme say the things that bug me:

  • Lack of compendium. This was added in the second game and I never realized how useful it was until I played this one. Fusing demons is an absolute pain because there is no compendium where you can keep on pulling out demons to fuse. So I'm stuck with using the auction in order to get some more demons.
  • Amount of playable characters. There's a lot of playable characters in this game, but the problem is how often you get them. I'm on day 5 out of 7 and so far the only characters I used so far were the 3 main ones: Atsuro, Yuzu, and the Protagonist, Keisuke (Who left), and Midori. Kinda annoying especially when Atsuro is my only physical attacker -.-

Aside from these 2 things, the game is really good. The story is great (maybe even better than the 2nd one), there's a lot of demons to use, tons of spells and very likeable characters (Midori.... ehhh maybe not so much).

I'm going to talk about this game more once I beat it so I'll end off this post with Jungo from Devil Survivor 2 AKA Junbro.

Have a nice WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~ (I picked female Tico >.<)

Dragon Nest Assassin Confirmed :D

2nd post :D

So today while lurking through the official Dragon Nest forums, I stumbled upon this post.

This post pretty confirms that the next Dragon Nest class is going to be an assassin type class. Reading trough the post you can see the 2 main weapons are a scimitar and a crook, which is apparently a staff with a bent/curved end. The 2 subclasses are probably going to be physical and magical. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be another dark-user >.>

There's still no news on the secondary weapon, gender, or even the release date. And knowing the developers of DN, they would probably add some kind of twist to the otherwise generic assassin class.

Also, don't expect this to come to NA anytime soon because we're still a lot of patches behind (still didn't get Kali >.>).

The new level 32 EX skills are also announced which also means another level cap increase :D

Guess it's time for me to get a CDN account >.<

Friday 1 February 2013

Hello World :D

Hi, I'm Nathan Mangaoil, a student in Mr. Chiarelli's ICS3U online course. I made this blog because it was mandatory to have one, but I'll post here every now and then. I'm a huge gamer and anime fan   >.< I mostly play RPGs such as Final Fantasy and Shin Megami Tensei, but I'm mostly a PC gamer. I mostly play League of Legends, Dragon Nest, and whatever MMO I'm currently into at the time (currently into TERA). Although some of my friends may think otherwise, I enjoy a large variety of anime. My favourites include Sword Art Online, K-On, Clannad, and Another. I'm also a huge fan of Touhou :P

Most of the stuff I post on here will be about any news about League, Dragon Nest, stuff going on at school, and some other anime related stuff. I'll probably think of other things to post about later on :)
